Diabetes is a chronic condition that needs to be manage well with a goal to prevent complications.
There are many conditions that can be developed if a person with type one diabetes, type two diabetes and prediabetic. During the month of fasting like Ramadan or lent and other religious fasting people with diabetes have to be Mindful and plan ahead of Time to make sure that they discuss fasting plan with your health care providers including your family MD, diabetes educator, endocrinologist and all others healht care specialists to plan what medications should be held, insulin dose adjustment instructions, discuss blood sugar targets and frequency of testing sugar and education on diabetes related emergencies and plan on how to manage it.
Fasting is essential for most Christians, muslims and other religious organizations, and it’s encouraged to help people learn self Self-discipline, get closer to God, improve mental health by boosting your spirituality. But is important to be Cautious when you’re fasting and have type one diabetes, type two diabetes, or prediabetes because if not plan properly it can lead to emergency that could be harmful to the body and caused many diabetes emergencies.
In this video, I give you 7 healthy tips to include when you have diabetes and you want to participate in your religious fasting; include planning ahead of time with your healthcare professionals, monitoring your blood sugar closely, keeping yourself hydrated, be mindful of sugary foods, being aware of over eating, making sure you’re getting adequate sleep, and exercising to improve your overall physical and mental health.
Do your best to care care of yourself by managing your type 1, type 2 diabetes and prediabetes well and or when assisting your love ones that live with diabetes knowing about diabetes emergencies and plan ahead, have plan in place to prevent serious complications and or even death.
